A bus driver and his assistant have been arrested in a case of gang rape of a 14-year-old girl on a bus in Chittagong. They are driver Md. Lokman and his assistant Md. Hanif. Police arrested them in raids in different parts of the city on Wednesday.

The teenage victim is currently undergoing treatment at the One-Stop Crisis Center (OCC) of Chittagong Medical College.

Chandgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aftab Uddin told Prothom Alo tonight that the victim came to Chittagong by bus from Cox's Bazar on Tuesday. The bus arrived at the city's Bahaddarhat bus terminal at 6:30 pm and the girl was kept inside the bus. Later, the driver, his assistant and bus supervisor Mobarak Hossain raped her there.

The OC also said that after the victim girl informed the police about the incident, a drive was launched to arrest the accused. Although the driver and his assistant have been arrested, the drive to arrest the supervisor is ongoing. The girl has filed a case with the police station as a complainant in the incident.
