On the other hand, speaking to news channels, Dr. Randeep Guleria, AIIMS chief and a government health expert, said a complete, aggressive lockdown is needed, especially in areas where more than 10% of those tested have contracted COVID-19.Similarly, Srinath Reddy, president of the Public Health Foundation of India, a public-private consultancy, asserted that different states were experiencing different intensities of the epidemic, but a “coordinated countrywide strategy” is need of the hour.Earlier this week, a three-member bench of Supreme Court, comprising Justice D Y Chandrachud, Justice L Nageswara Rao and Justice Ravindra Bhat had asked the government to ”consider imposing lockdown to break the chain in the interest of public welfare”.  “We are cognizant of the socio-economic impact of a lockdown, specifically, on the marginalized communities… thus, in case the measure of a lockdown is imposed, arrangements must be made beforehand to cater to the needs of these communities”, the bench directed.
